The most-asked question in our DMs, by a mile: "how does the cropped tee actually fit?"
Fair question. "Cropped" means different things to different brands, and the internet is full of women who ordered a crop and got a bra. So here's the honest breakdown of the tee we build most of our drops on: the Bella + Canvas 6882 Women's Garment Dye Cropped Tee.
Why we chose it
Three reasons, in order of importance:
- The fit is actually flattering. Slightly relaxed through the shoulders and chest, snug at the crop. It doesn't cling, it doesn't billow — it sits.
- Garment dye means the color is soft, not screaming. The whole tee is dyed after it's constructed, which gives it that lived-in, slightly-washed feel from day one. No stiff-new-shirt phase.
- It holds up. Bella + Canvas is the industry workhorse for a reason. Wash after wash, the shape stays.
How it fits, honestly
The crop: hits at or just above the natural waist on most people. Not a bra-crop, not a full-length — sits right at the belt line for high-rise pants. If your torso is on the longer side, it may sit slightly higher. If shorter, slightly lower.
The shoulders: slight drop shoulder, but not extreme. It looks intentional, not sloppy.
The chest and body: relaxed. Room to move. Not oversized — there's shape to it.
The sleeves: mid-bicep length, slightly rolled looks best.
What size to order
For most people, your usual size. This is where a lot of cropped tees get it wrong — they run tiny and you have to size up. The 6882 runs true.
- Want it tighter through the chest? Order down one.
- Want it more relaxed / more of an oversized crop? Order up one.
- Between sizes? Go with your usual. The garment dye softens the fabric enough that it'll settle into a comfortable middle.
What it looks best with
High-rise everything. Denim, tailored trousers, midi skirts, cargo pants, bike shorts if that's your thing. The crop was designed to pair with a defined waistline — give it one.
What to skip
Low-rise jeans. Anything that shows a strip of skin that isn't fully intentional. If you're going to wear the crop, wear it — don't accidentally-crop it.
Care tips (so it lasts)
- Wash inside out, cold water.
- Tumble dry low or hang dry — hang drying keeps the crop crisp longer.
- Skip the iron on the graphic. If the print needs a touch-up, iron inside out.
